My Health Check.
Because I love myself.
Important for my health.
My health check is decisive for my health. Because my doctor regularly creates my personal risk profile and provides personal advice. This way, I can reduce my health risks.
I have time to talk about making healthy changes to my lifestyle on the subjects of alcohol consumption, smoking, nutrition and physical activity.
- I can avoid the development of chronic diseases.
- Early detection of diseases improves the prognosis.
Everyone can have the check-up performed by a doctor with a preventative medical examination contract as well as in selected health centres.
You can find information:
- on the free service line (Monday to Friday from 8:00 to 18:00) at 0800 501 522 or by e-mail to vu@sozialversicherung.at
- in the online service Provider Search
How do I make an
appointment?
How many appointments
are necessary for my
health check?
Generally, two appointments are necessary. Blood will be taken at the first appointment and sent with a urine sample for laboratory testing. A second appointment will be scheduled to discuss the laboratory findings and to perform the rest of the basic examinations. If blood and urine can be examined in an in-house lab, usually only one appointment is necessary.
The health check can be performed by any doctor with a preventative care examination contract, in the ÖGK health centres, outpatient clinics of the BVAEB and in the Health Centre for the Self-Employed in Vienna.
The employees at the free telephone service line 0800 501 522 (Monday to Friday from 8:00 to 18:00) know exactly which medical practice in my area offers the health check.
There is also an option to search for a preventative medical examination by medical practices with an insurance contract in the online service Provider Search. In the search by contract type, select the option “general preventative medical examination”.
Where can I have
my health check?
What happens during my health check?
Quick and efficient
The health check really doesn’t take much time. The focus of this preventive check-up is on cardiovascular, metabolic and cancer diseases.
Documenting the medical history (case history)
The doctor will discuss with me all possible aspects of my health to get a comprehensive impression. Family history of disease, medications I am taking and lifestyle habits will be checked to detect where there may be possible risk factors.
Blood draw and urine test
The tests are important to detect kidney and urinary tract diseases and to see whether there is an increased risk of cardiovascular diseases.
Physical examination
The physical examination gives the doctor a first impression of my physical condition and my general health status.
Gum examination
Diseases of the gums are a significant part of the basic examinations. Through targeted questions regarding bleeding gums, my doctor can recommend a preventative periodontal treatment.
Discussion of findings and advice
At the end, the doctor will discuss the results of the examination with me and explain my current state of health.
